I Wish I Could Bill You The Hours

Poetry Jun 11, 2021

I wish I could bill you the hours
That I spent all alone in here
Thinking of you, planning, scheming
Wishing you were close up, near

I could retire, sound and safe
Live life up north and by the lake
Listen to slow rolling waves
Throw some pebbles, stay up late

I could write you letters, steaming
Hope they never reach your place
For I would sit here, shuffling, gleaming
Waiting for your arrivals, stays

I write whenever the mood strikes or strokes. Things get weird sometimes, but then that's why you're here.
